The design brief from Dezart Performs, an exemplar theatre production company, was to not only build a theatre but also a space that became integral to the local art scene. The theatre would provide state of the art lighting, perfect acoustics, and flexible seating, while the spaces around it, such as the bar and dining terrace, would become areas for theatre enthusiasts to meet, discuss, and an enjoy an evening out.

The existing building is to have it's frontage completely opened up with floor to ceiling sliding doors that create both a phyiscal and visual openness. A dedicated box office on the front facade helps control traffic flow in and out of the theatre during performance times. The bar is set as a focal point for the entire space. Warm textures, such as a wood and natural stone, are used throughout to create a warm and inviting space.

The facade design picks up on the dramatic mountain backdrop. Wood fins arranged in an angled pattern create a visually arresting appearance for the theatre.
